International Students Week in Tanzania (ISWiT) 2010 brings together students from Tanzania and all over the world through the Week. The aim is to give the youth an opportunity to discuss topical issues, create solutions, practice diplomacy, leadership and learn from the best in the field. The main theme for the year 2010 is, “THE VOICE OF YOUNG INTELLECTUALS ON CONSTRUCTING AFRICA A NEW: COME, LISTEN AND ACT!....”
This week will be hosted in Dodoma, the capital city of Tanzania and the home for its House of Parliament from 19th to 24th July, 2010.
800 students from different higher learning institutions in the country and other corners of the world are expected to participate in discussing the main theme and other issues that face the world currently such as youth and leadership, our global society, cultural heritage and HIV/AIDS. These will be discussed from economic, political, science and technology and information and media perspectives.
Since held for the first time in the year 1998, International Students Week in Tanzania has continued to facilitate open discussions among the youth of different higher learning institutions over the world; and has remained the only distinct event of its kind in African continent as it was declared by SORCE (STUDENTS ORGANISING CONFERENCES EVERYWHERE) that deals with organising and publicizing such kind of events in the world.
International Students Week in Tanzania is prepared and coordinated by the students from different schools and colleges of University of Dar es Salaam in collaboration with students from other higher learning institutions in the country under the supervision of the Dean of students of the University of Dar es Salaam Dr. Martha Qorro.
ISWiT 2010 sectretariat has the pleasure to thank Ambassador Juma Mwapachu for accepting to be the patron of this week and join hand the endeavours of higher education students. We are relieved to be under the guidance of a man of his stature, because we believe that his collaborative participation has increased value tremendously in the success of this week.
We use this opportunity to urge all the students of higher education in Tanzania and all over the world to visit our website www.iswit.org so as to get more information about this week for this year and register themselves so as to secure a chance to attend this important event.
We also call upon stakeholders especially government ministries, companies, public and private organisations, journalists and all society of Tanzania support, sponsor and be part of this important event in the country which aims at imparting skills to the youth through discussion and intensive analysis of the topics that will be discussed and thus build up and prepare strong world leaders.
